What is a health coach and why should you use one?

When I moved to the Netherlands and decided I no longer wanted to be a lawyer, I felt the weight of years of expectations fall from my shoulders. But when I told my friends and family that I had
decided to get my health coaching certification, more than a few eyebrows were raised. ‘’What is a
health coach’’ they wondered?

LOL…good question.

What exactly is a health coach?

The best way to describe it, is health coaches are wellness warriors who actively listen to your health-related frustrations and your vision for how you want to feel in your body.

Then, they support you by working with you to come up with a doable plan for helping you meet your goals. And, they cheer you along, motivate you to keep going even when the going gets tough, hold you accountable and help you adjust course when necessary.

The focus is always on You. What stage of change are you in and what action are you ready to take, in that journey of self-discovery. A health coach leads you to putting the pieces of the puzzle together.
A health coach regularly checks in by email, phone calls and face to face meetings, and helps you get ‘’unstuck’’ by helping you figure out the right path to wellness that works for you.

Benefits of health coaching

Change is often difficult. And there’s a world of information out there that leads to confusion, insecurity and frustration. The benefit of a health coach is having someone in your corner who listens to your unique needs and challenges and help you find the right solutions that work for you.
